Problems after installation was created by eliphass
Hi!

I'm new to Joomla! and Community Builder itself, and I had a problem with erros after installing CB 1.8.1.

First of all, my system is running on XAMPP 1.8.0, PHP 5.4.4, Apache 2.4, and (not sure if it also matters, MySQL 5.0.10).

During the installation of the com_comprofiler component, I've received a series of error messages that at the time I didn't bother to copy because the whole process ended as successful, but after that I keed receiving the same error messages, although the CB appears to be working with no major "damages".

The error message appears seven times, with different code lines on it, as below:
Strict Standards: Only variables should be assigned by reference in C<span>:</span><span>\</span>PortableApps\xampp\htdocs\cms\adoteumanimal\administrator\components\com_comprofiler\plugin.foundation.php on line 3623

A screenshot is also attached below:

Can anyone give some advice on what to do to make it work fine?

In case that matters, I have no spaces on the address, both "logical" (URL) and "physical" (hard drive).

I'm really lost and could use some help.

Thank you in advance.

Hi and welcome to our forums.

Friendly comment - before posting please search forums, google, etc.

I believe you need to edit your PHP error reporting to ignore such errors in Joomla.

I tried, but the results were too often about pages that were with the same errror, instead of fora-like links.

Anyways, thank you for clearing my mind about that. In my computer I use the error messages for the pages where I'm learning programming, but the production would not have that option activated, i.e., the hosting server does not show error messages so easily.

But thank you very much. I tought I f*c*ed up the whole thing when I saw those errors.

Again, thanks!

I followed the steps above and edited the php.ini file to say

; display_errors
; Default Value: off
; Development Value: off
; Production Value: Off

; display_startup_errors
; Default Value: Off
; Development Value: On
; Production Value: Off

; error_reporting
; Default Value: off
; Development Value: off
; Production Value: off

I then attempted to re-install CB within localhost/joomla/administration and i am receiving the same errors. Does anyone have any suggestions. I just want to get CB up and running error free on my M$ machine.

My problem has been resolved.

I restarted xampp

changed installation directory to C:\xampp\htdocs\Joomla\tmp instead of C:\xampp\htdocs\Joomla/tmp I am not sure if that slash made a difference. Probably not but that is everything I did and the errors went away.

For anyone who has this problem I am running

Windows XP
XAMPP 3.1.0.3.1.0
(Apache and MYSQL RUNNING)
Joomla v 2.5
