subscribemailman problem was created by Simon741
Hi all,

I've installed mailmansubscribe which for looks indeed like a very useful too.

If I understand it right, the e-mail address of every user is automatically signed up in mailman. There's no particular field to add in CB?

In my case, this connection does not yet work properly. Newly registered users are not signed up in mailman. The problem is that I have no clue what the problem might be.

Here the details of my system:

Joomla: 1.0.8
CB: 1.0 RC2
Mailman: 2.1.6

Simon

I have the same problem.

Joomla 1.08
CB RC2 with plugin published
Mailman 2.1.6

Everything seems set up correctly.
Have correct admin URL
Correct admin pw

but approved user is never added to mailman.

I have CBRC2 config set up to autoapprove users once their email is verified. So I do no manual approval of users.

Could this be related to issue?

This is indeed an issue. Users are added when approved by a moderator.

There is at this time no fix.

Ok. I've been working with Gesellix of the mailman module for Joomla, and he got it to work to autoapprove a user when a user submits their email and subscribes.

Mailman sends a verification email and the user is added to the list. He looked at your code to make it work.
Is it possible that such a method would also work for your plugin? As soon as it's polished and posted at Joomla developer area I'll repost here.

Seems to me that since there is no discussion list specific tool for Joomla (likely never will be), we are stuck with Mailman and its horrible interface/security method. Therfore I hope to make all this work with CBR2 since the two go nicely together. What is a community without a discussion list?? Email is still king.

Maybe this needs clarification...

Users are added to the mailman list when the moderator of the Joomla/CB installation approves the new user.

When using the web-interface from mailman the user is automatically approved by mailman.

The trouble is not in the subscribtion of an email its knowning when to subscribe, change and unsubscribe an address.

The mailmansubscribe plugin only works when the CB workflow requires user approval. This limitation is a nice candidate for some more work but since I don't need it it has a pretty rotten position on my todo-list...
