I'm also interested in seeing improvements to this. there is a massive waste of space pushing results down the page.
Also, unfortunately, tables are used to structure the results which means more hacking of the core files, rather than just the CSS.
the only way I know of is to copy and modify one of the templates (e.g. luna). but a sample pure CSS version would not go amiss for a future update.
