Plugin - Last Profile Visitors

Hey Trail...

Thought you might find this interesting. We had to disable the Last Views tab on our site because it slowed everything down so much. It's the only plugin that appears to have the problem - it would cause profile pages to appear after about 6 seconds, instead of nearly instantaneous.

I think some query optimization is probably in order.

BTW, the site is run on a dedicated 2x dual-core Opteron 265 box with a seperate (identical) 2x dual-core Opteron 265 mysql server, so there's no lack of horsepower (only site on those machines too!). We usually have fairly high concurrent users, which is why the horsepower is so high (and $1,000/month!)...everything hums along fine until I enable Last Views, it jacks CPU usage through the roof.

Hi,

That is interesting. I don't run a server as big as yours or likely have as many users, but I personally don't have the same issues you're having with the plugin.

Dani_bs has restyled the code and optimised it. I've uploaded his version in the first post.

I use a Virtual Server and I don't have your problem, not even before my code optimization. There is some other...

I've just installed the latest 0.2.5pre and it seems to work fine.

However, I was dissapointed to see that even though alot more "date display" options had been provided than in 0.2.4pre, it still has the same problem as the previous version ie. how can you tell a date like 11/05 does not mean 5 November or 11 May?

To do this and eliminate all ambiguity, dates like:

dd-mmm-yyyy or
mmm-dd-yyyy

need to be provided as part of the config. Is this hard to implement?

Thanks.

Michael.
