So I installed the Advanced Search component without a problem and I activated a bunch of fields as searchable, but when I try to search it just goes to my index.php page (no ?option=... after it) and complains, "You are not authorized to view this page!"

What's especially strange, however, is that I also installed the mambot, and searching through the regular Joomla! search works like a charm.

Any ideas? I've seen other people report this problem and the solution seems to be to fix the level of access, but I've both gone over that multiple times and I'm trying this is a super administrator, so I don't see how that could be the problem.

Same problem here as well....

Fix? anyone?

Also noticed the the search mambot doesn't seem to respect the publish/unpublished state. Or the searchable/unsearchable state. It will display items you don't want displayed and search fields that you don't want searched.

I had to set the default list permission to "Everybody". Then I burried the menu item for the search within a protected menu. This is what hides it from unregistered users.

Haven't found a way around the permission problems for the search bot. It will show the info on the list, but won't show the profile to an unregistered user.

I have this problem too. I need to be able to search protected/read only fields. Does anyone know a way around this?

Tks.

did you make a component item for the search?

any problem like this usually relates to not having created menu items
