Hello

let me explain a bad situation we have here as i believe that you are able to help.

We are using cbSubs for years without any problem and everything works pretty fine.

During the last year, there is a certain user (let's not name him otherwise), who registers with our site, uses our site for a day and then raises a paypal dispute claiming his money back.

we do refind him, because paypal is most of the time on the side of the buyer and remove his account.

The other day we have the same situation... new account, new paypal payment, new dispute and so on. Two weeks ago we had 5 disputes in one week.

The problem is not that we refund the amount to this "user". The problem is that he loads our paypal account with disputes and i am afraid that this damages, or will damage our paypal reputation.

What i thought and asking your help for is the following...

Right after payment the payer's paypal mail can be retrieved with [PAYER_EMAIL] and the transaction id with [TRANSACTION_ID].

Can an auto action be created to directly refund the payment amount when payment is completed to the payer if [PAYER_EMAIL] equals to a list of e-mails given to the auto action?

This way... he (or anyone else) will understand that he has no benefit of making payments because the refund will take place before he has the chance to use our services.

Can you please help?

Thank you.

I would block the fraudulent jerk from even being able to register so you don't need to deal with refunding nor would I ever recommend auto refunds as a solution.

Anyone going through that kind of trouble is deliberately targeting you to ruin your business. Probably a competitor or a disgruntled customer/employee of some kind. Not only would I block them I would file a police report as what they're doing is illegal in most parts of the world. They conveniently are using PayPal which has all their personal data attached making the police report even easier as once you've a case number PayPal will be required to comply.

Using CB AntiSpam you can block registrations entirely from specific ip address, email addresses, and even integrates with AbuseIPDB and CrowdSec to completely block known spammers. So for example you can create an indefinite block in CB AntiSpam using an email address list block to stop them from being able to register. I would also block their ip addresses as well.

Unfortunately blocking him is not a solution because he does not have a static ip (Germany ips always), each time he registers with a different e-mail (google, yahoo etc) and the police report is a very sad story here in Greece. Have asked my lawyer and told me that the only way is to sue him for the police to start acting and this case will finally go to court in about six years.

Also tried to contact PayPal, explained the situation, asked how i can block him permanently from sending payments to me, but they never replied. In their forums, they give a way to block a user, but if he has set his paypal account not to be viewable by others, you can not find him to block him.

This is why i thought of the auto refund solution.

Right now i do not accept registrations from Germany but you understand this is one country minus to the site's income.

Thank you

Is he using the same PayPal account each time? You should have their PayPal account email address via the notification (in CBSubs > Notifications) sending buyer_email back. Use that to block them at PayPal if they're using the same account.

I don't think auto refund is the solution here. That won't stop the abuse and having constant refunds on your account is not good. The payments need to be stopped entirely. If you've a PayPal Business account you should have access to the fraud tools (fraud filters) from your business dashboard that might have ways to also block this.

If you don't have a PayPal Business account, but you do have their PayPal email from the notification navigate to Send & Receive > Contacts page in your PayPal account. You can manually block from there.

Yes he is always using the same Paypal account.

As i told you before... in Paypal forums, they give a way to block a user, but if he has set his paypal account not to be viewable by others, you can not find him to block him.

I think i am stuck to the solution of not accepting user registrations from Germany.

I think your only option then is to keep reaching out to PayPal. They're the only ones that can really do anything about it since there's no access to their email address to block them. Is the PAYER_EMAIL in the CBSubs > Notification from PayPal also just their site email address? CBSubs will set it if PayPal sends it back.
