Sorting in User Management was created by FrankVo
Hello !

I'm new on this forum.

I have a specific question about sort-possibility in User Management (Backend).
This list sorts only by User-ID. There is no sort-by-hit on each column, for example 'Last Name".

In de Joomla-Core Users you have a sort button on each column.
Why isn't that possible in CB ? Or.....is it something I miss in the configuration.

Perhaps this is an "old" question and probably asked many times before, but I cann't find the answer.

Please give me a useable reply.

Thanx !

I've noticed that too but haven't much use for it in my current project.
However, this could be a workaround:

Components > Community Builder > List Management
Create a new user list [e.g.: "Sortable List"]
Select which ACL User Groups to include in the list [e.g.: Public, Registered]
Sort By 'Last Name'
Filter: Last Name 'Is Not Empty', add

Select which user groups have access [e.g.: Super Users]

Column 1 Field: Last Name
Column 2 Field: First Name
Column 3 Field: Title, etc

My site doesn't publish first/last names so it's not going to be easy to test the theory but perhaps this could offer a useful workaround.
I imagine that there are JED components that would offer more advanced back-end sorting but I cannot check right now :)

Good luck-

Good point. Thanks for stating an obvious shortcoming of CB backend. I think it is a must-have standard feature in allmost any Joomla extensions backend... and CB heavily depends on its managers, IMHO! In most cases you will have a lot of entries in each manager. The usability and overview is getting worse with each new entry.

On a daily basis I catch myself at using the J! build-in usermanager... just to have a quick overview about latest logins! Just one example of many applications and daily tasks.

I do miss this feature in ALL CB managers. It would be a big relief and a great timesaver!

EDIT:
I wonder why its not implemented, because it is a typical Joomla backend UI feature. Does CB not make use of them?

Hello !

Thanx to both of you.

Naturally I already made a new list in CB, but I want to combinate it with GroupMail.
In that case you can only sort bij Usergroup or other unpractical sortfields, but ..... not on any field that is shown in the list.
Rather bizar, this shortcoming of CB. I cannot understand why this isn't build-in ?!?!?

In my case, the User-submissions are alphabeticaly-random connected with the UserID's, so I have to think about a sortmethod in PhPMyAdmin in tabel nnnn_comprofiler. But it is naturally a stupid workaround.....it should be a standard-process in CB.

Any other suggestions ?

Thanx !

Frank

I don't understand this.......

In this topic we made a conclusion that there is a major lack in de core-files of CB (no sorting in all managers of CB).

Are we going tot do something about it ?
Because.....why else do we have this forum fore ? I think it is not acceptable that such big extensies are stored in JED with this kind of shortcomings.

Why doesn't anyone of CB builders reply this topic ?

I just want to mention that I miss this feature, too.
Maybe if there's enough feedback someone will finally notice this.
