No matter if you register with an event or just do a normal registration you get a free one year membership, so that is no problem :-)

Can Auto actions in some way hook on to the trigger described here: eventbookingdoc.joomservices.com/developer-documentation/dev-plugin#onafterpaymentsuccess

I assume that's a Joomla event in which case yes. Just prefix any Joomla event with joomla_. Example as follows.

From: onAfterPaymentSuccess
To: joomla_onAfterPaymentSuccess

Ensure the CB Auto Action system plugin is installed, published, and public as it's responsible for binding to Joomla events.

When I use the trigger: joomla_onAfterPaymentSuccess to renew a plan subscription - does this respect the plan setting: Renewable 2 month in advance ? I do not want this to trigger renewal 3 month in advance..

I've no idea. That's an Events Booking event. You'd have to ask them when it's ran. Based off the documentation you linked above it seams like it probably should.
