I have several subscription plans for journals; most are to be mailed and require delivery address fields; one is online only so does not require them. Is there a way to make fields selectively 'required'? As far as I can tell, once a field is marked as 'required' it is always required, whether it displays or not...

No, there's no way to condition fields required state. You'd only be able to show/hide them based off plan.
