RE: www.joomlapolis.com/forum/277-cb-paid-subscriptions-support/232626-users-are-being-disabled-on-expiration#299100

An expired membership gets the following error when trying to login, and the option to renew is not presented.

Error
Your login is blocked.

How could I fix it so that the expired/disabled users can still renew?

You've free registrations without a subscription disabled within CBSubs > Settings > Global. They should be asked to renew or upgrade if your plans are accessible to Public and allow renewals/upgrades (review your plan configuration under Workflows and Access tab carefully).

Hi, I'm having a similar issue to this and here is what I have found:
  • on setting Allow free registered user to NO, users are disabled and can't login to select a renewal of a membership option as they are blocked.
  • on setting Allow free registered user to YES, users can login and but are not presented with a mandatory membership option.
How do I force a membership option (not free lifetime) but not have the users disabled which causes me manual work to re-enable them so they can log in and renew?

As an aside, I have had the same plans and settings for years and have not had this issue before, so it appears something may have changed or I inadvertently changed something.

It has always kind of been like that for us - Free memberships never expire, but when a paid one does, the user can still log in, but is just set in limbo to "registered". Would be nice for their next visit to force 'either renewal or downgrade' choice, instead!

I have set up a "renew" module ( just a floating button really) that appears now for users in this category ( after one had complained that it was almost impossible to renew). Also provide a RENEW menu item for those folks, but so far have been unable to hide the old (Public) "subscribe" menu item - since the default menu "Access" method is inclusive, rather than exclusive - and 'registered' users are also "public"...

The on login plan display was bugged for a few releases. This has been fixed as of a couple builds ago. Please be sure CBSubs is completely up to date and see if issue persists. Please also be sure the your plan allows renewals and has its View Access Level and Usergroup set to Public under the Access tab to ensure they can access the plan otherwise ensure they've plans available to upgrade to.

That's basically what the "Allow Free Registered Users (without subscriptions)" parameter is for as it'll block them from logging in if their subscription has expired and should ask them to renew or upgrade to a different plan (if any available).
