No installation package found

Hi,

I tried installing Udde IM on my joomla 1.6.1 site today, but met a " No installation packaged was found" message when trying to install "com_uddeim_j16.zip".

The package was version 2.3 (last update on Mar 6, 2011) according to the joomla extensions directory.

What am I doing wrong?

Maybe your server has a 2 mbyte http upload limit.

Ftp the file and install it locally.

I now tried to install by first uploading the "com_uddeim_j16.zip" to another server and install from there.
Now I receive a message that the "XML setup file can not be found".

Question, if using joomla 1.6.1, should I first install "com_uddeim.zip" and then "com_uddeim_j16.zip" or only "com_uddeim_j16.zip"?

Do only install "com_uddeim_j16.zip". The other package is taboo for Joomla 1.6 sites.

When "XML setup file can not be found" is displayed there are several issues possible. The most likely is that your server has an upload limit of 2 mbyte. Then the unzip program might cause troubles. In that case unzip the folder in a temp folder and install from there.

You can try following: Open the archive in WinZIP and delete all language files except the english.php one in "languages" and "languages.utf8". The archive should be a lot smaller, now. Try again to install it.

You can download the package again. I have added a "uddeim_j16_english_only.zip". Try to install this and upload the required language files separately.

Not sure where I find the english only package though. I tried downloading it again following the download link from joomla extensions directory but it had no english only.
Where can I find it? :huh:
