users are sent "awaiting approval" and "confirmed" emails simultaneously

4 years 6 months ago #318113 by anchoredweb
Hello! Hope you can help me here.

I've got CB, CB Paid Subscriptions, and CB Conditional installed. CB Paid has 4 plans, and only one plan do I want to require approval, overriding CB which is set to allow users to register and sign in.

So this plan is free/lifetime and I set "User Approval by Moderator" to "Yes, after payment."

When I test this plan as a new registrant, The user is added as "Enabled" and two emails are sent from CB plans, one for the awaiting approval and a second for "you have been approved."

Not sure what I am doing wrong here! Let me know. Thanks.

Try setting it to before payment. Next ensure free lifetime plans are configured to create subscriptions within CBSubs > Settings > Global. Now see if this is working as expected.

Thank you for the suggestion! I tried it, but it didn't seem to change anything. I do see the user is listed as not enabled, but, in my email for the new test user, I get both emails (both "pending" and "approved") from CB Subs. This was working before, but seems to have changed in the last month. Any other ideas? Thank you again!

Do you have anything else configured to act on registration behavior? For example CB Auto Actions altering user fields or something of the sort when a user registers or plan becomes active? It's possible something else is modifying the user during the registration process causing a conflict. Try disabling all non-core CB plugins expect CB Paid Subscriptions in CB > Plugin Management then see if your issue persists. If it does then it for sure sounds like a bug in CBSubs.

Thanks again. I have CB Antispam on the register page, and I'm also using an SQL action for the plan to add a K2 user row (activation/enabled status is not managed or included in this table), and I have the joomla user management set to "No" for allowing registration. With CB overriding, of course. I've tested with CB conditional off, with antispam off, and with the sql removed -- same behavior.

It seems to activate the user's subscription immediately, when I want it to wait for approval from admin. The plan is set to free/lifetime, and the approval override is set to "before payment."

Ah, I understand your situation now. You won't be able to do that the current way you're doing it. Free plans don't have a payment. They're immediately activated. If I understand correctly you want the free plans to require approval and confirmation, but you don't want the paid plans to have either. To do this configure your install as follows.

CB > Configuration > Registration
Admin Approval: Yes
Email Confirmation: Yes

Now edit your free plan and under Workflows tab set the following.

User Email Confirmation: Default (CB setting)
User Approval by Moderator: Default (CB setting)

Next edit your paid plans and set the following under their Workflows tab.

User Email Confirmation: No (override CB)
User Approval by Moderator: No (override CB)

Basically make the default behavior require approval and confirmation then let your paid plans override that default behavior. This should give you a more reliable usage. Things get a little wonky with free plans with this since they are immediately activated.
