It looks like had not enabled CB Connections - Rejected Notification, but the others were. Would not having the one still cause the issue?

Yes, as rejecting the connection request won't delete that notification.

So normal behaviour is that even if the user accepts/rejects, the message would remain and they would need to delete it themselves?

No, normal behavior is once accepted/rejected it deletes that notification. The accept/reject notifications handle that for you, but if they're not enabled that behavior won't happen.

Follow up question:

Is there a way to also have admin send mass notifications?

Yes, but only within CB Activity > Notifications. There's no way to create manual notifications like it's an activity entry or anything from frontend.

I am trying to test out sending a notification (ie what would appear in in the globe icon or on a Notifications Module).

It's asking for an Asset, Owner an User. It looks like I can make the sender (owner) be a system message by toggling the "System" button.

What would I need to do to be able to have a message appear in everyone's Notifications?

You should be able to send out a global notification using the below.

Asset: profile.USER_ID
Owner: USER_ID
User: USER_ID
System: Yes
Global: Yes

Replace USER_ID with your own user id. It's basically creating a notification to yourself that you own and flagging it as global. That should be visible on everyone's profiles.

Notifications aren't really meant to be created manually, but it is doable. They're meant to be created via API on various events. In a future release frontend create of notifications for moderators might be implemented.

In a pinch this works like a charm! It saves me from having to look for a 3rd party extension to post a message to all members. :woohoo:

Thanks for this!

On another note, circling back to the auto deletion of notifications once a user accepts to rejects a connection request, I am finding the messages are not getting deleted.

I have enabled the Auto Actions described earlier:
-CB Connections - Request Notification
-CB Connections - Accepted Notification
-CB Connections - Rejected Notification
