Hello Kyle,

When I reply to a post in GJ, absolutely everyone in the groups get an email. Could I turn it off so that only those whose post is answered is getting an email?

Or is this one of the bugs of GJ from 1.9 to 2.0?

Thanks,

Tim

The notifications are user by user. If a user doesn't want the notification they can disabled it on the Notifications page. Beyond that there's no advanced control to the notifications so no what you're wanting isn't doable and is not a bug.

Hi Kyle,

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I have badly explained myself. I will use a usercase that I have checked and counterchecked (as I use Mandrill, I can read the emails that each user gets).

I have posted something. All users got the email that I have posted something.

Somebody hit reply on my post, and I got the email BUT so did everyone else in the group. Everyone else got the notification that somebody replied to MY post.

I have put in "Notify" in the backend of GJ in "select default value for wall notification parameter "User reply to my existing posts"."

What I would want is that if somebody replies to MY post (or anyone elses), then only I get the notification (most emails will otherwise land in Junk folder, ie people will complain about too many email notifications)

Reading from the description in the backend "select default value for wall notification parameter "User reply to my existing posts"." the current situation where everyone gets an email if someone replies to a users post is not wanted.

Did I make a mistake and if so, how do I correct it now that I have over 5000 registered users?

The new post notification will still function even for replies. The notification for replies to your own post is independent of that. For example you can turn off notifications for new posts then enable notifications for replies to your post so you can be notified when you get a reply.

In reality this needs to be 3 notification settings. 1 for new posts, 1 for replies, 1 for replies to my posts; this would prevent replies from being lumped into new post notifications. This is something I can have fixed with next release and have added a ticket for it.
