Error message when user or admin updates cb

Had this issue crop up for the first time yesterday.

A user is trying to update profile details. However when they try to save their changes the following appears:

"Please enter a valid username. No spaces, at least 2 characters and must not "'&#37:;()contain the following characters: <>\"

When I try to update as administrator I get the same error message.

Site is 2.5.16 and CB 1.9.1

That's due to Joomla changing the username validation. Joomla no longer, for whatever reason, does not allow spaces in usernames suddenly. Please see the below topics.

It should be fixed in next Joomla release as I understand it. Next CB release will also have a workaround implemented, but it will only apply to new registrations.
