A new CB AntiSpam release has arrived with some long awaited new Captcha modes!
hCaptcha has officially been implemented providing a privacy first bot protection captcha.
Cloudflare Turnstile is also now available providing robust bot protections with minimal stress on your users and without privacy worries!
Another great new mode is Timer. Similar to Honeypot it offers a hidden means of trying to stop bots in their tracks. Bots often will instantly complete forms making it a dead giveaway that they're a bot. Timer uses an encrypted timestamp per-form to keep track of each forms initialization time. If the form is completed and submitted too quickly then the form will be rejected.
Additionally Honeypot has been improved to provide 2 different modes. The current mode simply hides the Honeypot container using CSS. This provides an accessible Honeypot solution due to screen readers being able to ignore this, but bots can use this against you. The new more aggressive mode uses CSS to move it off screen and has a higher chance of catching bots, but you run the risk of harming accessibility and for that reason we'll leave the choice up to you.
Several other internal improvements have been made to captcha as well. The JavaScript for Captcha's has been significantly improved for better reliability. The ajax captcha rendering has been redone to be more reliable as it would sometimes fail on first render, which it now no longer will. Captcha caching also will no longer fill up session data for captcha's that don't even need to cache.
