Hi
GJ and CB project in general improving all the time and the hard work is shown. in CB you gave the webmasters more option to cusomize it to our need with flexible structure. I hope that GJ is going to be as flexible as CB.
I would like to see in the next versions of GJ a custom fild options according to the group category and the option to sort by those fileds. So you can give your users easy way to finda group that suit them.
Another feature i would like to see is a basic group details for every group category. so you can decide which filed/option you fill in advanced and which to let the owner of the group set for example: don't let the owner decide if the users public or not, and the Group access, and the integrations for the group. to keep the format of the group in a category strict

Already a feature request and ticket on forge for adding custom fields. As far as next version that is very unlikely as it's a massive implementation. GJ is NOT CB, GJ is an extension to CB adding groups support.
